Newly-Wed Youth Found Hanging From Tree in Angul; Online Gaming Loss Suspected

Angul: A 24-year-old newly-married man was found hanging from a cashew tree near Machhakuta playground under Chhendipada police limits in Odisha’s Angul district on Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Manas Behera. According to reports, Manas had allegedly suffered heavy financial losses due to online gaming addiction. Though he had got married only 15 days ago, he reportedly continued playing online games, which frequently triggered disputes within the family.

Sources said Manas went missing from his house around 1 pm on Wednesday after an argument at home. On Thursday morning, locals spotted his body hanging from a cashew tree with the help of a rope near the playground and immediately informed his family members.

On being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for postmortem examination.

An unnatural death case has been registered and further investigation into the incident is underway.
