Newly-Wed Woman Found Dead in Bolangir, Family Alleges Murder

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a newly-wed woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Mahipur village under Tusura police limits in Odisha’s Bolangir district on Saturday. The deceased’s family has alleged foul play, claiming she was murdered.

The victim has been identified as Anupama Mahanand, a native of Bagbhadi village in the district. She had married Maidantu Mahanand of Mahipur village around 10 months ago in a traditional Vedic ceremony.

According to family members, Anupama was taken to Deogaon Community Health Centre (CHC) by her in-laws late Friday night after they claimed she had fallen ill. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival. Suspecting foul play, her family alleged that she was strangled to death and linked the incident to an alleged extramarital affair of her husband.

Following a complaint filed by the deceased’s parents at Tusura police station, police have detained three persons for questioning. The body has been seized and sent for further examination.

Police said a detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
