NCERT Accelerates Work on New Class 10–12 Textbooks, Says Education Minister

The preparation of revised NCERT textbooks for Classes 10 to 12 is underway on a mission mode, Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Tuesday. He added that new textbooks for Classes 1 to 9, aligned with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), have already been released.

Addressing the 66th Foundation Day event of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), Joshi highlighted the organisation’s role in strengthening India’s education system and developing skilled, capable and globally responsible young citizens.
The minister said the rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI) in everyday life makes it essential for school education to keep pace with technological changes. He stressed that textbooks and curricula should help students understand AI, use it effectively and engage with the technology in a responsible manner.
Joshi also underlined the importance of parents being aware of the growing use of AI among children. He said parents should be properly counselled so they can guide and monitor children’s use of emerging technologies.
Referring to India’s large youth population, the minister said the country’s human resources are an important asset not only for India but also for the global community, particularly as several countries face the challenge of ageing populations.

He expressed confidence that India’s human-resource standing would improve further in the coming years and said the vision of a developed India, or Viksit Bharat, has significance for the wider world as well.
