NCB Seizes Marijuana Worth ₹1 Crore in Mayurbhanj, Five Detained

Baripada (Mayurbhanj): The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized nearly 20 sacks of marijuana valued at around ₹1 crore from a sports utility vehicle (SUV) near Bharda Chowk at Kaptipada Nuasahi village in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday night. Five persons were detained in connection with the seizure, while two others managed to escape.
Acting on a tip-off, an NCB special squad placed the suspected vehicle under surveillance and intercepted it while passing through Bharda Chowk. During a search of the SUV, officials discovered the contraband hidden at the bottom of the vehicle and covered with sacks of cabbage in an apparent attempt to avoid detection.

The SUV used for transporting the drugs has been seized. Preliminary investigation suggests the consignment was being transported from Keonjhar to Baripada via Kaptipada.
The NCB has launched a manhunt to apprehend the two absconding suspects and is investigating possible links to an interstate drug trafficking network. Further investigation is underway.
