Naveen Patnaik to go on four-day New Delhi visit

New Delhi: BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik will embark on his four-day New Delhi visit from today. His official visit to New Delhi will be of significance ahead of the Vice-Presidential elections on September 9.
The Biju Janata Dal’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) convened an important meeting on Saturday at Naveen Nivas- the first since party president Naveen Patnaik’s recovery from cervical arthritis surgery. The meeting indicated that Patnaik is back into action mode and will actively shape the party’s strategy and policies.
The PAC reviewed the recently revamped student, youth, and women wings of the party, emphasizing the need for closer grassroots coordination and outreach.
Members also deliberated on key issues to be raised in the forthcoming Assembly session, scheduled to begin in 10 days. These include rising atrocities against women & weaker sections, fertilizer shortages, and administrative lapses during the Rath Yatra.
On the matter of the upcoming Vice Presidential elections, PAC members shared their views with the party president. However, the final call regarding the VP elections will remain at the hands of BJD Supremo.
It is worth mentioning here that the Vice Presidential election is scheduled for September 9. It will witness a direct contest between Justice (Retd.) B Sudershan Reddy, backed by the INDIA bloc, and the NDA’s nominee, C P Radhakrishnan.
