Mohammed Moquim Announces Launch of New Political Party ‘Odisha Janata Congress’ on April 8

Bhubaneswar: Former MLA Mohammed Moquim on Sunday announced that he will launch a new political party, the Odisha Janata Congress (OJC), on April 8 at the Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar.
Addressing the media, Moquim said the party’s flag, which he shared on his WhatsApp status on the occasion of International Women’s Day, has already gone viral on social media. He explained that the colours of the flag represent solidarity, youthfulness, transparency, cleanliness and the prosperity of Odisha, reflecting the vision and values of the new party.

Moquim said the official formation of the party will be announced during a public event expected to witness participation from political leaders belonging to different parties and backgrounds.
He further stated that once the party formally enters the political arena, its initial focus will be on municipal elections. According to him, the name Odisha Janata Congress has been chosen as it represents a regional party dedicated to the people of Odisha while also benefiting from the familiarity associated with the term “Congress”.
Moquim also informed that the Election Commission has already completed the first phase of formalities required for registering the new party. He added that preparations are underway to complete the remaining procedures so that the party can actively participate in upcoming local elections.
The announcement of Mohammed Moquim’s new political outfit is being viewed as a a notable development in Odisha’s political landscape, with the Odisha Janata Congress aiming to attract youth and local leaders looking for an alternative regional platform.
