Missing Youth’s Body Recovered from Forest in Jharsuguda; Three Detained

Jharsuguda: The body of a youth who had been missing since February 1 was recovered from a forested area near Kukurikani village under Brajrajnagar police station limits in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district on Wednesday, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Sahil Sahis of the Rampur area in the district. According to reports, his body was found wrapped in polythene in a jungle area, nearly four days after he was reported missing from his home.

Acting on information about the presence of a body in the forest, police reached the spot on Wednesday morning and launched an investigation. Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police (SP) Gundala Reddy Raghavendra, the Brajrajnagar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), local police personnel and a scientific team visited the scene as part of the probe.

Family members of the deceased have alleged that Sahil was murdered, suspecting the involvement of some of his friends. His father has also claimed that his son was killed.

Police have detained three persons in connection with the incident and are questioning them. “We recovered the body from the Kukurikani forest and have begun a detailed investigation with the help of a scientific team. Three suspects have been detained and are being interrogated,” SP Raghavendra said.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of death and the circumstances leading to the incident, police added.
