Missing Youth Found Dead in Sundargarh

Police in Rajgangpur recovered the body of Babula Dung Dung, a resident of Pada Jamapalli, two days after his family reported him missing. His wife has alleged murder, intensifying the investigation.

On May 10, Babula visited Ranibandh Dhobi Pada with his wife Sara, children, and brother to attend a community feast. Witnesses said Babula consumed alcohol and became heavily intoxicated. Late at night, he mistakenly entered a villager’s house. The homeowner confronted him and assaulted him. During the commotion, Babula’s brother tried to calm the situation, but Babula fled the spot.

Family members searched for him through the night, assuming he had fallen asleep nearby. When he did not return by morning, they filed a missing complaint at the Rajgangpur police station. Investigators deployed a sniffer dog, which led them to a nearby drain. Fire service personnel joined the search, and Babula’s body was recovered from the drain.

Police seized the body and sent it for autopsy at Rajgangpur Community Health Centre in the presence of Assistant Tahsildar Anil Kumar Soren. Babula’s wife accused foul play, alleging murder. Rajgangpur SDPO Bibhuti Bhusan Bhui stated that further action would follow after the postmortem report.

The incident has triggered tension in the locality, with residents demanding clarity on the circumstances of Babula’s death. Authorities continue to probe all angles to determine whether the case involves accidental death or homicide.
