Minor Girl’s Death Sparks Tension in Balasore, Villagers Allege Medical Negligence

Balasore: Tension gripped Raigadia village under Khaira block of Balasore district on Sunday after villagers and family members of a deceased minor girl staged a road blockade, alleging medical negligence.
The deceased was identified as Lipisita Ram, elder daughter of Balaram Ram, a resident of Raigadia. According to the family, the girl had been suffering from cold and fever for two days. On Saturday, she was taken to a clinic at Tudigadia market, where she was treated by Dr. Debakanta Padhi.
“After the doctor administered an injection, we brought her home. But her condition deteriorated quickly. We rushed her to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival,” Balaram Ram told reporters. He further alleged that doctors at the government hospital indicated that improper treatment may have caused her death.
Claiming that a wrong injection led to the tragedy, the grieving family produced a prescription as evidence and, along with villagers, staged a road blockade demanding justice. The protest continued for several hours, disrupting traffic and heightening tension in the area.
Meanwhile, Dr. Debakanta Padhi has gone missing following the incident. Khaira police reached the spot and assured the villagers of a thorough investigation into the allegations.
