Mines Department Vehicle Attacked by Sand Mafia in Pipili

Puri: In a shocking incident, a vehicle belonging to the Mines Department was allegedly attacked by members of a sand mafia in Pipili late on Tuesday night while officials were on their way to verify information about illegal sand mining in the area.
According to reports, Mines Officer Sameer Mishra, along with his staff, had rushed towards the location after receiving inputs about an illegal sand ghat operating nearby. While they were heading to the spot, a group of alleged sand mafia members intercepted the official vehicle.

The miscreants reportedly pelted stones at the vehicle, causing damage and creating panic among the officials. Following the attack, the Mines Officer and his team were forced to flee the area to ensure their safety.
Sources said that the Mines Officer is likely to lodge a complaint regarding the incident at Pipili police station. Further investigation is expected to begin after the complaint is formally filed.
