Medical student from Odisha allegedly gang-raped in West-Bengal

Durgapur: A second-year medical student of a private medical college was allegedly dragged and gang-raped in West Bengal, police said today.

The survivor,a resident of  Jaleswar in Odisha, is pursuing her MBBS degree at the private medical college located near Shobhapur in Durgapur of West-Bengal.

As per family members, The incident took place outside the private medical college campus in Durgapur on Friday night when the second-year student went out with one of her friends for having dinner.Some men allegedly dragged her to a secluded area behind the hospital and raped her.

On receiving information about the incident, police rushed to the spot and started an investigation. The survivor was admitted to a nearby hospital for medical examination.

The father of the victim informed the reporters, that he was informed about the incident by his daughter’s friend. His daughter had gone out with her male friend to have dinner, when some men dragged her and raped her.

However, the police are yet to issue an official statement in this case.
