Mayurbhanj Man Murders Wife and Mother-in-Law, Buries Bodies in Garden

Baripada: In a horrifying case of domestic violence turned fatal, a man in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district allegedly murdered his wife and mother-in-law, buried their bodies in his garden, and tried to cover up the crime by planting a banana tree over the grave.
The incident took place in Nuagaon village under Kuliana police limits, with the accused identified as Debasish Patra. According to preliminary reports, the double murder occurred on July 19, when Debasish allegedly killed both women by crushing them with a stone. The motive behind the crime remains unclear.
In an apparent attempt to hide the evidence, Debasish reportedly buried the bodies in his lemon garden and planted a banana sapling over the burial site to avoid raising suspicion.
However, when the two women remained untraceable for several days, concerned villagers noticed fresh digging in the garden and informed the local police. Acting on the tip-off, the police exhumed the bodies and launched an investigation.
The accused has since been taken into custody for interrogation, and a thorough probe is underway to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the gruesome crime.
The shocking nature of the incident has left the local community stunned and raised fresh concerns about domestic violence in the region.
