Massive Fire Breaks Out at Scrap Godown Near Vikram Dev University in Jeypore

Jeypore: A massive fire broke out at a scrap godown near Vikram Dev University in Jeypore town of Odisha’s Koraput district in the early hours of Monday, triggering panic in the surrounding area.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 3 am. The flames rapidly engulfed the godown, which was reportedly stocked with a large quantity of plastic materials. The presence of plastic items intensified the blaze, making firefighting operations more difficult and causing thick smoke to billow across the locality.

On being informed, three fire service teams rushed to the spot and immediately launched firefighting operations. After several hours of sustained efforts, the firefighters managed to bring the situation under control.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Officials said a detailed investigation will be conducted to determine the origin of the blaze.

No casualties have been reported so far. However, the extent of property damage is yet to be assessed.
