Marijuana worth Rs 4 crore seized from Bhubaneswar airport

Bhubaneswar: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence seized Marijuana worth Rs 4 crore was from Bhubaneswar Airport. Reportedly, a couple has been held for smuggling the contraband goods.
According to reports, a man and a woman, allegedly a couple arrived in Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar today. They were coming from Bangkok.
Acting on a tip off, the Customs department detained the couple. On checking their belongings, marijuana worth Rs 4 crore was found from their possession. The officials are currently carrying out an enquiry.
Marijuana has been seized from the airport several times before. Similarly, a few days ago, the Director of Revenue Intelligence seized 8 kg of marijuana from Bhubaneswar airport.
The estimated value of which is around Rs 8 crore. It was coming from Bangkok. After receiving information from some source, the customs department officials present at the airport questioned the said passenger.
In another instance on July 29, the Customs Department at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar detained three persons after recovering hydroponic marijuana valued at over Rs 30 crore.
Suspecting something fishy, the customs officials inspected the baggage of the three passengers who had arrived at the Bhubaneswar airport from Bangkok on IndiGo flight 6E-1066.
