Man Kills Elderly Father Over Rs 400 Dispute in Mayurbhanj

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly killed his 80-year-old father over a dispute involving Rs 400 in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

The incident took place at Ladadihi village under Morada police station limits. According to reports, the victim, Govind Mardi, was attacked while asleep by his son, Madhu Mardi.

Police said the accused, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, had demanded Rs 400 from his father, which the latter had earned by selling drumsticks. When Govind refused to give the money, Madhu reportedly assaulted him with a bamboo stick, leading to his death.

Following the incident, police from the Chitrada outpost reached the spot and detained the accused. An investigation into the matter is currently underway.

Family members stated that Madhu had a history of forcibly taking money from his father. Further probe is in progress.
