Man hacks wife to death in Gajapati

Paralakhemundi: In a gruesome incident, a man hacked his wife to death in Gajapati district of Odisha yesterday night. The barbaric incident took place in Gaiba village under Serang Police Station limits in the district.

The deceased woman has been identified as Monika Paika. She has a daughter.

As per reports, a verbal spat erupted between the man and his wife. Being enraged by this, the man took out a knife and attacked his wife with it. He allegedly slit throat of his wife. As a result, the woman succumbed to the injury on the spot only.

After committing the crime, the man fled the scene.

The crime has taken place due to family dispute as per the locals.

After getting information, Police reached the spot and initiated probe. The body has been seized and sent for autopsy. Police are trying to trace out the accused husband who is at large as of now.

Further investigation of the case is underway.
