Man Hacked to Death Over Old Enmity at Petrol Pump in Bargarh

Bargarh: A man was brutally murdered at the Hi-Tech Petrol Pump in Haldipali village under Sohela police limits of Bargarh district on Thursday, allegedly over a three-year-old enmity.

The deceased has been identified as Balistha Pradhan. Police said he was seated inside the petrol pump premises, using his mobile phone, when he was suddenly attacked by Lipu Sahu, a youth from Garbhana village.

The accused allegedly struck Balistha with an axe around 16 times before fleeing the spot. The incident, captured on CCTV, shows the attack in detail. Balistha succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Following the murder, angry locals staged a road blockade at the site demanding justice. Sohela police rushed to the location, pacified the protesters, and restored order.

The accused has since been apprehended and taken into custody.
