Major Drug Bust in Rourkela: Over 5 Quintals of Ganja Seized

In a major crackdown on illegal narcotics, the Plant Site Police Station in Rourkela has seized more than five quintals of ganja and arrested six individuals allegedly linked to an inter-state drug trafficking network.
Acting on credible intelligence inputs, police officials intercepted a consignment of contraband cannabis that was being transported through the city. The operation, conducted as part of a special enforcement drive against drug trafficking, led to the recovery of over 500 kilograms of ganja, dealing a significant blow to the organized illegal drug trade operating across state borders.
According to police sources, the six arrested individuals were allegedly involved in transporting and distributing the contraband to multiple locations. Authorities also seized five cars used for transporting the illegal substance, six mobile phones believed to have been used for coordination and communication, and a substantial amount of cash suspected to be proceeds from the narcotics trade.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to identify additional individuals connected to the racket and to trace the broader network. Police officials reaffirmed their commitment to combating drug trafficking and ensuring community safety through sustained surveillance and coordinated enforcement operations.
