Mahavatar Narasimha makes history, becomes first Hindi animated film to cross Rs. 100 crore at box office

Mahavatar Narasimha has become the first ever Hindi animated movie ever to cross the much desired Rs. 100 crore mark at the Indian domestic box office. The Hindi version of the movie has minted Rs 107.65 crore within 16 days, defying trade projections and creating a new benchmark for the animation category in India. Directed by Ashwin Kumar, the mythological epic tells the ageless tale of Lord Narasimha, Hiranyakashyap, and Prahlad, which connects with people of all walks of life.
The high quality of animation in the movie, excellent emotional impact, and great music have accounted for the blockbuster success. The film opened on day one with a respectable figure of Rs 1.35 crore, but started receiving positive word of mouth and it had a good gain on all of the following days – Day 2 Rs 3.25 crore and Day 3 Rs 6.8 crore. All weekdays also held very steady and all solid, Day 4 Rs 5.75 crore and Day 5 Rs 4 crore, it is clear there was still some interest.
With Rs 107.65 crore already in its pocket and nothing big for the next four days, the film should contribute another Rs 20-25 crore to its vault. The total collection of the movie now stands at Rs 145 crore, and with the buzz that has been created, it is able to cross the Rs 200 crore mark in the forthcoming weeks. Yet, the film will receive competition from Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Hrithik Roshan-Jr Ntr’s War 2 soon, which can affect its box office collection.
