M Abhay takes charge as new DGP

Adarsh Rout, Cuttack: Today senior IPS officer Abhay takes charge as Director General of Police of Odisha. He takes  charge as the new DGP of Odisha from the in-charge DGP Satyajit Mohanty at State Police Headquarters in Cuttack.

1986-batch Odisha cadre IPS Abhay has been serving as NAP Director since January 2, 2018, and trained the 70RR and 71RR of IPS probationers during his short tenure. On December 6, Appointments Committee of Cabinet had approved Ministry of Home Affairs proposal for premature repatriation of Abhay to home cadre. He was relieved of his duty and given the Guard of Honour on the same day. During his seven-year tenure in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), he headed the Anti-Corruption Branch in Odisha and was the Deputy Inspector General, Bank Frauds and Security Cell in New Delhi. He was also posted as Director of CBI Academy. Before that, he was Additional Director General (Training) in the CRPF.
