LPG connections in Odisha Cities to be replaced with PNG within one month

Bhubaneswar: The Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) connections in Odisha Cities will be replaced with Piped Natural Gas (PNG) within one month, informed Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra today.
Patra informed about the development after chairing an important meeting of the representatives of oil companies and the Secretary of the Department in the presence of Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development Department at Lok Seva Bhavan.
While speaking to the newsmen after the meeting, Patra said that as per the instructions of the Central Government, PNG connection has been made mandatory in urban areas and this rule will be implemented across the state within a month.
The replacement of LPG connections with PNG will be initially implemented in urban areas and gas will soon be supplied through pipes in big cities like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Berhampur and Sambalpur, he informed adding that those who have already got the PNG connection will no longer get LPG.
Adding to him the Housing and Urban Development Minister stated that the PNG connections will be given in each part of the urban localities of the state. “The works are underway. However, now we have set a target to accelerate it and complete within a month,” he said.
“Even the people living in rented house will also get the PNG connections,” he added.
The latest announcement of the Ministers is expected to bring much relief for the people who are facing problem in availing LPG gas cylinders even for their domestic usages.
