Low-Pressure Over Bay of Bengal to Impact Odisha; Rain Likely from Monday

Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal, and its impact is likely to be felt in Odisha within the next 48 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, weather conditions in the state will remain dry for the next two days. However, a significant change is expected from Monday as the system begins to influence several districts.

Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in Khordha, Cuttack, Puri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts. The IMD has issued yellow warnings for these areas, forecasting gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph.
On Tuesday, rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds are expected to continue, particularly in Mayurbhanj, Cuttack, and Khordha districts.
From February 25 onwards, the weather is likely to turn dry again, with minimum temperatures expected to rise gradually by 2–3 degrees Celsius across the state, the IMD added.
