Low-Pressure Area Over Bay of Bengal Likely to Intensify into Depression in 12 Hours, Andhra Coast in Focus

Bhubaneswar, Oct 31: A well-marked low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea has intensified and is likely to develop into a depression within the next 12 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The weather system, which also covers parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, is moving west-northwestwards and is expected to intensify further.
According to the IMD, the associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. The system is likely to become more organised and gradually intensify, moving towards the Andhra Pradesh coast by the evening of November 2.
Under its influence, sea conditions are expected to remain rough, prompting authorities to advise fishermen against venturing into the deep sea.
Rainfall and stronger winds are also likely in parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining southern Odisha districts. Authorities are closely monitoring the evolving weather system.
