Light Rain in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack Brings Relief

Parts of the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack witnessed light rainfall accompanied by gusty winds on Saturday morning, bringing a brief change in weather conditions.
The unexpected showers were recorded between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM, with cloudy skies and intermittent winds observed across several areas.
Rainfall Recorded Across Key Areas
In Bhubaneswar, light rain was reported in multiple localities, including airport surroundings, railway station square, Acharya Vihar, Janpath, Nayapalli, and Khandagiri-Khurda Road areas.
Similarly, in Cuttack, areas such as Barabati Stadium locality, Mangalabag, Chaudwar Road, and Nayabazar experienced light rain with winds.
Despite the rainfall, there were no reports of waterlogging or traffic disruptions, although commuters and pedestrians were caught off guard by the sudden weather change.
Low-Pressure System Influencing Weather
According to inputs from the India Meteorological Department, a low-pressure system over the north coastal Odisha region is influencing the current weather pattern.
Due to this system, districts including Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Cuttack, and Bhubaneswar are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall, along with possible thunderstorms and gusty winds over the next two days.
Temperature Likely to Dip Slightly
Weather scientist Manorama Mohanty from the regional meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar stated that light rain may continue in some areas during the day, accompanied by cool winds.
She added that temperatures are expected to remain slightly lower than usual, offering temporary relief from rising heat levels.
Outlook for Residents
Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and take precautions during thunderstorms or strong winds. The rainfall is expected to remain scattered, without major disruptions.
