Bhubaneswar (Surjit Kumar Dhal): Manas Mangraj, the government’s media adviser, is currently being discussed by various journalists in the capital. The discussion is regarding the daily life of this young leader. Where he went, how many spent in media houses, how much financial support he gave to reporters and cameramen, who bought cars in his name, where he invested, which mines he bought … and many rumors are circulating every day. Some are criticizing him, some are oiling him. In the midst of all this talk, however, some senior journalists have been disappointed with the activities of Manas.

Manas babu has given so much money to the camera man of this media, said one. Manas Babu has entered politics from journalism, said a senior journalist. He joined the BJD after a long tenure in the Congress. Joining the team, he has been appointed media advisor. While his contemporaries have no value in the team, Babu has been able to climb up the stairs and expanded his dominance on the third floor in less than two years. After obtaining the post in the team, he cares nobody. At the instigation of some shrewd persons some journalists have been persecuted. As if all journalists are his slaves, and they will report as he desires. This fellow seems to be working to cover up the party’s shortcomings. But he is forgetting that the BJD belongs to no one. It is unknown at this time that who will be punished or who will be rewarded. In such a situation, Manas babu’s destiny can not be predicted.

What is going on in the team now, as the leaders dig each other’s guts, conspire for each other. This may not be known to Manas Babu. Nothing is permanent, anything may happen anytime. One day, Pradeep Panigrahi was most beloved to the Chief Minister. He was kept under cover by the Chief Minister despite allegations. But later was expelled from the party and embroiled in previous corruption. One day, Jajpur MLA Pranab Prakash Das was also the power centre. But some party leaders conspired against him and today kept him behind. Manas Babu is most junior to anybody ? His fan club and his social media are reportedly sharing in his favour, and when the news is against him, he is blocking the news agency and its staff. Hey brother, you are in politics. The eyes of the people of the state are on you. Some will criticize, some will praise. So what’s the point of being outraged at criticism, out of revenge, blocking someone, slapping someone?

The greed of praise makes man fall into arrogance. So Manas babu needs to understand that. He has said many times that he considers Bobby Das his ideal, big brother. If so, what did he learn from Bobby ? Journalists target Bobby the most. News is circulating against him. Even party leaders are telling lies to the chief minister against him. But Bobby was never upset. He has no time to pay attention to anything other than his own work. Bobby is always busy to improve the team, maintaining coordination among team members. He treats conspirators, critics and fans alike. He has prioritized the development of the district and his constituency. Even in the middle of the night, when someone stands at his door for help, Bobby helps those people, forgetting hunger, thirst, and sleep. During the floods, people in Jajpur district have seen him roaming various assembly constituencies day and night, rescuing people, carrying, cooking and distributing food. Similarly, in last two by-elections, he spent 15-18 hours in campaigning. He should follow Bobby in actual spirit.
