Labourer Dies After Falling Into Paddy Cutting Machine in Balasore

Balasore: A 25-year-old labourer was killed after accidentally falling into a paddy cutting machine while working in a farm field in Balasore district on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Raju Dalai (25), son of Radhua Dalai, a resident of the Bardhanpur area under Balasore Sadar police station limits. According to eyewitnesses, Raju was working beneath the paddy cutting machine when he slipped and fell into it.

Other workers at the site immediately switched off the machine and pulled him out. However, he had sustained critical injuries and succumbed to them on the spot.

Upon receiving information, police reached the scene and initiated an investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem examination. The deceased’s family has alleged negligence, claiming that the accident could have been prevented with proper safety measures.

Raju was engaged as a daily labourer for paddy cutting work. Police said a case has been registered and the circumstances leading to the incident are being examined.
