Khallikote Police arrest 3 members of looters’ gang

Chhatrapur: Khallikote Police in Ganjam district of Odisha have arrested three members of an inter-district looters’ gang. The accused were involved in multiple cases of theft, robbery and snatching and creating chaos and panic in different areas.

According to police, the gang used stolen motorcycles to move around and would loiter near banks. The thieves used to take advantage of crowd and then targeted people following to snatch their bags containing cash and valuables.

On 3rd of December, an incident was reported in which miscreants broke opened the dickey of a Tata Ace vehicle in front of the Bejiput Police outpost under Khallikote police limits and stole cash worth Rs 1 lakh. Following a complaint, a case was registered at Khallikote police station in this regard.

Acting on the directions of the Ganjam Superintendent of Police, a special team was formed under the leadership of Khallikote IIC Ramesh Pradhan. The team conducted raids at multiple locations. Police arrested three accused from the Aska area. From their possession, cash worth Rs 2,98,100 and a Unicorn motorcycle were seized.

Police have also recovered the Rs 1 lakh stolen from the Tata Ace vehicle and returned it to the rightful owner.
