Kalinga Stadium to host World Athletics Bronze Level Continental Tour from today

Bhubaneswar: The World Athletics Bronze Level Continental Tour meet is scheduled to kick start at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar today. It is also referred to as the 1st Indian Open and will be the first such event to be hosted by India.

It is an annual series of track and field competitions and is the second tier of global meetings after the elite Diamond League.

Over 17 competing countries will take part in the event with 225 athletes contesting against each other. It was established in 2020 and has four levels – gold, silver, bronze and challenger.

Olympian Srabani Nanda, Prajna Paramita, Lalu Prasad Bhoi and Animesh Kujur will represent Odisha in the World Athletics Bronze level Continental Tour. There will be 19 events in the Games. Around 93 Indian players have taken part in the event.

Players have reached Bhubaneswar for this maiden event of India. Playing on the home ground will be a golden opportunity for Indian athletes to earn valuable ranking points.
