Kalahandi Forester Arrested in DA Case
Odisha Vigilance arrested Bhagabat Bhusan Behera, Forester of Bhatangpadar Forest Section under Bhawanipatna Forest Range, Kalahandi district, in a disproportionate assets case.
He will be produced before the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna.
Searches on Behera’s properties revealed assets far beyond his known sources of income. Officials seized a newly constructed multi-storeyed building, nine high-value plots, gold weighing approximately 470 grams, and deposits worth Rs 34.08 lakhs. Investigators also uncovered benami assets, including two Kubota harvester machines, four tractors, one Ashok Leyland tipper, one BharatBenz Hyva, one Bolero vehicle, and one Toyota car.
Koraput Vigilance Police registered Case No. 02/2026 against Behera. Authorities confirmed that the investigation continues to trace the full extent of his disproportionate assets and identify possible accomplices.
