Justice Demanded on Minor’s Rape

Jaleswar (Ajit Kumar Sahoo): Bhubaneswar’s Chandrasekharpur police have arrested Pramod Kumar Singh alias PK Singh, charging with raping a 12-year-old girl. On June 3, 2018, Chandrasekharpur police registered a case against Pramod Singh was reportedly a senior official at the proposed Subarnarekha port in Baliapal.

Through Gangadhar Das of Kankadapala village in Baliapal police station area, the minor girl was taken, kept her as servant and repeatedly raped at his home in Patia, Bhubaneswar. The villagers rescued the child and lodged a complaint with the police. Chandrasekharpur police had registered case, Number 228/2018, but after a long three years, the accused P.K. Singh was arrested and taken to court, one Chandrasekharpur police official said.

While Tapan Jena, who was involved in the case, was absconded, police also could not arrest Gangadhar Das. Gangadhar Das holds many important documents related to the case. On the other hand, while the victim was a minor; her grandfather, uncle and mother have demanded strong and exemplary action against the culprits. It remains to be seen when justice will be done for the victim and her family.
