Joranda Mela Begins in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: The world-famous Joranda Mela commenced today at Mahimagadi in Gandia block of Dhenkanal district, attracting saints and devotees from across the country.

As per reports, numerous Mahima Dharma sadhus, monks, and pilgrims have gathered at the Samadhi Pitha of Mahima Gosain in Sunya Mandir to offer prayers and participate in the religious festivities. Sadhus from both within Odisha and other states have already arrived to take part in the event.

The three-day-long Joranda Mela, also known as Prabhu Purnima Utsav, is expected to witness a footfall of 7-8 lakh devotees. The festival falls on Magha Chaturdashi or Magha Purnima, the full moon day of the Hindu month of Magha.

One of the key attractions of the mela is the grand yajna held at Yajna Kund, where thousands of liters of ghee are offered into the sacred fire by devotees. Special prayers are conducted for world peace and prosperity, and the entire area resonates with the rhythmic chants of “Alekh Brahma”, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere.

The Joranda Mela continues to be a significant religious and cultural event, drawing pilgrims and tourists alike to witness the unique traditions of Mahima Dharma.
