Jharkhand Tourist Drowns While Bathing at Chilika Lake

Bhubaneswar: A tourist from Jharkhand drowned at Chilika Lake on Sunday after being swept away by strong currents while bathing at the lake’s mouth, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Kushagra Divya, who was part of a group of 15 employees from a private company based in Bhubaneswar. The group had arrived at the new mouth of the Chilika–sea confluence in two boats from Baghamunda Jetty.

According to sources, Divya entered the water for bathing and was suddenly swept away by the strong current, leading to the tragic incident. The Brahmagiri fire brigade was alerted and rushed to the spot, where personnel later recovered the body.
Brahmagiri police also reached the location and took custody of the body for further investigation and legal formalities. The incident has left the tourist group in shock and cast a pall of gloom over the area.
