‘JalSathi’ App begin to ensure clean drinking water

Bhubaneswar: To ensure supply of clean drinking water to consumers through piped water connection, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launches ‘JalSathi’ App. The Water Corporation of Odisha and women federations in Bhubaneswar today signed an MoU in this regard.

CM Patnaik paid Rs 593 as water cress to kick off campaign, Jalsathi programme will be implemented in as many as eight wards of Bhubaneswar on a pilot basis under the 5T initiative of the Housing & Urban Development. The programme will be implemented in the remaining wards of Bhubaneswar and other urban areas of the State in the next phases.

As per the report, this initiative will benefit around 70 lakh people in urban areas. For the successful implementation of the move Patnaik also distributed water quality testing kits and POS (Point of Sale) machines to Jalsathis during the launching programme.

Addressing the people there CM Naveen Patnaiksaid,  “The most important thing for a healthy life is clean water. Inclusion of woman volunteers from Mission Shakti in piped water supply is a cherished step as they will serve the people as Jalsathis . The key objective of the program is to transfer the ward level water distribution and consumer management to women SHG volunteers who will work as Jalsathis.
