Jagatsinghpur Supari Murder Case: Lover and Contract Killer Arrested

Jagatsinghpur police arrested contract killer Lalu Yadav from Bihar’s Kaimur district for murdering Sasmita Das, a young woman from Kathiapada village, a day after her engagement. The accused will appear in court on Saturday.

Investigators said Sasmita’s former lover, Suryakant Swain, hired Lalu Yadav to kill her after she got engaged to another man. Police revealed that Suryakant, unable to accept the engagement, plotted the murder and paid Lalu Rs 20,000 in advance out of a Rs 2 lakh deal.

According to Superintendent of Police Ankit Berma, both accused arrived in Jagatsinghpur from Jamshedpur on April 13 and stayed at a lodge. They made several failed attempts to kill the woman before returning to Jamshedpur. After learning about her engagement, they came back on April 17. Suryakant allegedly called Sasmita to a field, where the duo hacked her to death on April 20.

Earlier, police arrested Suryakant Swain from Jamshedpur during a special operation. With Lalu Yadav’s arrest, investigators claim to have solved the sensational Jagatsinghpur murder case completely.

Police said further investigation is underway to trace the financial trail and recover evidence linking the accused to the crime.
