IndiGo Cancels Bhubaneswar–Dubai Flight Amid Escalating West Asia Conflict

Bhubaneswar: IndiGo has cancelled its Bhubaneswar–Dubai flight scheduled for Wednesday in view of the escalating conflict in West Asia, an official of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) said on Tuesday.

Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan confirmed that the airline has called off the Wednesday service and informed passengers in advance to minimise inconvenience. IndiGo operates direct flights between Bhubaneswar and Dubai three times a week — on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. While the Monday and Wednesday flights have been cancelled, a decision regarding the Friday service will be taken after reviewing the prevailing situation, he added.

Pradhan said passengers of Monday’s cancelled flight did not face major difficulties as prior intimation had been issued. “We hope passengers scheduled to travel on Wednesday will also not encounter any issues since they have been informed well in advance,” he stated.

He further noted that the Ministry of Civil Aviation is closely monitoring developments in West Asia on a daily basis and taking necessary measures in response to the evolving situation.

Tensions in the region escalated following reports that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a major attack allegedly carried out by Israel and the United States last Saturday. Subsequently, US President Donald Trump stated that sustained and targeted bombing operations against Iran would continue through the week or as long as deemed necessary.

Following the conflict, several airspaces across West Asia have been closed, leading to widespread disruption of international flight operations and prompting airlines to reassess their routes and schedules.
