Indian Wrestlers Shine at U-23 Asian Championship in Vietnam, Bag 15 Medals

Vung Tau (Vietnam): Indian Under-23 wrestlers delivered a stellar performance at the ongoing U-23 Senior Asian Wrestling Championship in Vung Tau, Vietnam, clinching a total of 15 medals across different categories and making the country proud on the international stage.
The Indian women’s wrestling team emerged as the overall champions, winning medals in all 10 weight categories and securing the prestigious Champion Trophy. Their medal haul includes four gold, five silver, and one bronze.

Gold medals in the women’s category were won by:
- Priyanshi Prajapat (50 kg)
- Reena (55 kg)
- Shrishti (68 kg)
- Priya (76 kg)
Silver medals were secured by:
- Neha Sharma (57 kg)
- Tanvi (59 kg)
- Pragati (62 kg)
- Siksha (65 kg)
- Jyoti Berwal (72 kg)
Hinaben Khalifa brought home the lone bronze in the women’s 53 kg category.
In the Greco-Roman wrestling segment, Sumit added to India’s gold medal count by winning in the 63 kg category. Nitesh claimed a bronze in the 97 kg class, while Ankit Gulia secured another bronze in the 72 kg category.
India also tasted success in the Men’s Freestyle division, where Vicky clinched a gold medal in the 97 kg category. The freestyle events are still underway, and India is hopeful of adding more medals to its tally in the remaining bouts scheduled for Saturday.
With a total of 15 medals already secured, India’s U-23 wrestling contingent continues to display dominance and promise at the continental level.
