India, Australia Strengthen Tech Ties with Launch of Parliamentarians Forum for Tech Diplomacy

New Delhi, April 22 : In a major stride towards enhancing India-Australia relations in the technology sector, Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Sujeet Kumar has launched the Parliamentarians Forum for Tech Diplomacy, a global initiative aimed at fostering inclusive and responsible technology development. The launch event, held in New Delhi, witnessed the participation of distinguished Australian lawmakers including Hon. Dylan Wight MP and Hon. Mathew Hilakari MP from the Parliament of Victoria, who were in India as part of a visiting delegation. Their presence underscored the growing collaboration between the two nations in the field of emerging technologies.
Speaking at the event, Kumar emphasized the urgent need for global cooperation in navigating the opportunities and challenges posed by new technologies such as artificial intelligence. He stressed that responsible and ethical tech development must be at the heart of such partnerships.
The Forum is designed to bring together lawmakers, technology experts, and industry leaders to exchange ideas, collaborate on policy frameworks, and shape the global discourse on emerging tech. It aims to serve as a platform for innovation and diplomacy in the digital age.
The event also spotlighted Kumar’s recent book “AI on Trial”, which explores the societal implications of artificial intelligence. The book, launched earlier this year in the presence of the Vice President of India, has sparked nationwide discussions on the need for responsible tech regulation and development.
The visit by the Australian delegation and the establishment of the Forum mark a new chapter in India-Australia relations, particularly in the domain of technology and innovation. Both nations are exploring avenues to collaborate on AI, entrepreneurship, and digital infrastructure, paving the way for a tech-driven future grounded in shared democratic values and mutual cooperation.
