Independence Day: 22 from Odisha among 1090 to receive President’s medal

Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of Independence Day, as many as 1090 officials will be awarded the President’s Gallantry and Service medals for their noteworthy contribution in their fields. Out of them, two officials from Odisha have also been chosen for the awards.
It is a matter of great pride for the Odisha Police that some of its officers will receive the prestigious President’s Medal on the occasions of the Independence Day.
The Gallantry and Service Medals will be awarded in the Police, fire services, home guards and Civil defense categories. As many as 233 will receive gallantry awards, 99 will receive the Distinguished services awards and 758 will receive the Meritorious service medals.
As many as nine people from Odisha will receive the Gallantry awards. One Sub-Inspector, one Constable, two Odisha Auxiliary Police Force (OAPF), One Habildar and four commandoes.
For Distinguished services two officials will receive the President’s Distinguished services award. Additional Superintendent of Police Rabindra Kumar Panda and Commandant Naresh Kumar Patel are the two to receive the coveted medal for their noteworthy services.
For Meritorious services in their respective fields, 11 Odias will receive the award.
