IMD Issues Yellow Warning for Rain, Thunderstorms Across Odisha Till October 18

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience rain, thunderstorms and lightning over the next five days from October 14, with surface winds reaching speeds of up to 40 kmph, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
A yellow warning has been issued for several districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Puri, Khordha, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Koraput, Rayagada and Malkangiri.
The wet spell is likely to continue until October 18, with coastal and southern districts particularly vulnerable to lightning and gusty winds. Weather conditions are expected to improve from October 19.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon has withdrawn from several western and interior districts, while withdrawal is underway in other parts of the state.
A low-pressure system over the southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression, influencing weather conditions across Odisha and neighbouring coastal regions.
