IMD Issues Yellow Warning for Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms in Odisha Till October 15

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for several districts in Odisha, predicting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms with lightning, and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph. The adverse weather is expected to continue till October 15.
According to the IMD’s mid-day weather bulletin, on October 13, heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely to occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Ganjam, and Gajapati districts. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are also expected in Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Rayagada, Koraput, and Nabarangpur.

On October 14, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and surface winds of 30–40 kmph are likely to affect Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts.
The yellow warning will remain in effect on October 15 for Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam, where similar weather conditions are expected to persist.
The IMD further stated that no weather warnings have been issued for the four days following October 15, indicating a likely improvement in weather conditions thereafter.
