IMD Issues Thunderstorm Alert for Four Odisha Districts

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a Yellow warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in four districts of Odisha over the next 24 hours.
According to the midday weather bulletin released at 1:30 PM, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds reaching 30–40 kmph are likely to occur at isolated places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore and Bhadrak districts. The IMD has advised residents in these areas to remain alert and take necessary precautions during thunderstorm activity.

The weather agency said light to moderate rain or thunderstorms may occur at one or two places in the four districts, while dry weather is likely to prevail in the rest of the state during the same period.
The IMD further forecast that dry weather conditions are expected across Odisha from March 10 to March 16, indicating a brief stabilization in weather patterns after the current spell.
Meanwhile, temperature variations were recorded across the state. The highest maximum temperature of 37.6°C was reported from Jharsuguda, while Rayagada recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 17.4°C.
Maximum temperatures were slightly below normal in some coastal districts, whereas several parts of interior Odisha recorded above-normal temperatures. Minimum temperatures were also reported to be markedly above normal in parts of interior regions.
For Bhubaneswar and its adjoining areas, the IMD has predicted partly cloudy skies, with temperatures likely to hover around 35°C (maximum) and 23°C (minimum) over the next 24 hours.
