IMD issues orange and yellow warnings for rain

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow warnings for rain in Odisha for the next four days.

The weather department, which also has issued a warning for the farmers, said that the rainfall activity in different districts of Odisha will continue till April 16.

DAY-1: Valid upto 8.30 AM of April 12:

• ORANGE WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at a few places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam and Kandhamal.
• YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.

DAY-2: Valid from 8.30 AM of April 12 tο 8.30 AM of April 13:

• YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Rayagada and Koraput.

DAY-3: Valid from 8.30 AM of April 13 to 8.30 AM of April 14:

• YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at a few places over the districts of Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhargarh and Puri.

DAY-4: Valid from 8.30 AM of April 14 to 8.30 AM of April 15:

• YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh.

DAY-4: Valid from 8.30 AM of April 15 to 8.30 AM of April 16:

• YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Boudh, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar.
