IAS R Vineel Krishna Appointed Joint Secretary in Department of Sports

New Delhi: Senior IAS officer R Vineel Krishna, who previously served as the Secretary of Sports and Youth Services in Odisha, has been appointed as the Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
An official notification from the Department of Personnel and Training confirmed his central deputation. Krishna, a 2005-batch IAS officer of the Odisha cadre, is widely recognized for his dynamic leadership and grassroots-driven reforms in the sports ecosystem of Odisha.

During his tenure in Odisha, Krishna played a pivotal role in transforming the state into a major sports hub by facilitating global events, developing world-class infrastructure, and promoting rural sports initiatives. His efforts were particularly lauded during the successful hosting of the Men’s Hockey World Cup and the establishment of high-performance sports centres across the state.
His new role at the national level is expected to bring a fresh wave of innovation and field-level experience into central sports policymaking and execution.
Officials in the Ministry welcomed the appointment, expressing confidence that Krishna’s practical experience and visionary approach will significantly contribute to India’s sporting ambitions on the global stage.
