Husband, Cop Held in Pregnant Woman’s Murder
Sundargarh: The investigation into the brutal murder of a pregnant woman in Jhardapali village under Tikaytpali police station limits has taken a dramatic twist, with police detaining four suspects, including the victim’s husband and a policeman.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night when Soumyamayee Behera, who had been married just a year ago, was shot dead by two assailants at her residence. Initially believed to be a robbery, the case has since raised suspicions of deeper motives following preliminary inquiries.
According to sources, two individuals knocked on the door of Soumyamayee’s house, which she opened. One of them reportedly snatched her gold chain, and when she resisted, she was shot. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the crime.
Soumyamayee was rushed to the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Banai by her family members but succumbed to her injuries.
