Hockey India Announces ₹11 Lakh Reward for Each Women’s Team Player After Asian Games Gold

Hockey India has announced a ₹11 lakh cash reward for each player of the Indian women’s hockey team following their historic Asian Games gold-medal triumph in Japan. Each member of the support staff will receive ₹5.5 lakh for their contribution to the campaign.
India defeated defending champions and Olympic silver medallists China 1-0 in the final to win the women’s hockey gold for only the second time in Asian Games history. The triumph ended a 44-year wait since India’s previous title in 1982.
Lalremsiami Scores Decisive Goal
Forward Lalremsiami scored the match-winning goal in the 10th minute with a reverse-stick strike. China mounted sustained pressure in search of an equaliser, but India’s defence held firm to preserve the lead until the final whistle.
Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh praised the team’s resilience and confirmed the cash rewards, saying the players showed “guts and resilience” while defending their lead against a strong Chinese side.
India had previously finished runners-up at the Asian Games in 1998 and 2018. The 2026 gold also secured India a direct qualification spot for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, adding further significance to the historic victory.
