Hirakud Dam discharging water through 18 gates

Sambalpur: The inflow of water to the Hirakud Dam in Sambalpur district of Odisha is now less while the outflow is more. Water is being discharged through 18 gates of the dam to properly manage the inflow and outflow.

As per reports, as of now water is being discharged through 18 sluice gates of Hirakud Dam. As many as 12 gates are open on the left side of the dam while 6 gates on the right side.

Currently, the water level of Hirakud reservoir is 612.85 feet. 2 lakh 19 thousand 22 cusecs of water is entering the reservoir every second. Similarly, 3 lakh 11 thousand 305 cusecs of water is being discharged from the reservoir per second.

While the water flow in the reservoir is decreasing, more discharge is being made to maintain the balance.
