High Drama Outside Rama Devi University as Police Take Ipsita Sahoo Away

Bhubaneswar: High drama unfolded outside Rama Devi Women’s University in Bhubaneswar on Thursday as police personnel were seen taking Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) president Ipsita Sahoo away amid heightened tensions during student union elections.

The incident occurred as polling was underway across Odisha’s colleges and universities on October 15, with extensive security arrangements in place to ensure peaceful voting.

Rama Devi Women’s University witnessed heated exchanges between representatives of the ABVP and BCJD over allegations of attempts to influence voters. The controversy reportedly centred on the distribution of Mahaprasad and allegations of seeking votes on certain conditions.

Ipsita Sahoo rejected the allegations against her organisation and accused the rival group of attempting to influence the electoral process. She also alleged police and administrative bias.

The student union elections, being held across the state after an eight-year gap, have been marked by political allegations and heightened security concerns.

Further details regarding the circumstances under which Sahoo was taken away by police, including whether she was detained or arrested, are awaited.
