Heavy rain hit Train services in Odisha, 3 cancelled

(Reporters Today, Bhubaneswar): The incessant rain since yesterday due to cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal has badly affected train services under East Coast Railway (ECoR) in Odisha.
The Bhubaneswar-Vishakhaptanam Intercity Express will be terminated at Srikakulam and it will run empty upto Vishakhapatnam. The Vishakhapatnam-Bhubaneswar Intercity Express, however, will remain cancelled on Thursday.
Similarly,Vishakhapatnam-Berhampur and Berhampur-Vishakhapatnam passenger train have also been cancelled.
Bhubaneswar-Bramhapur-Bhubaneswar MEMU train has also been cancelled due to heavy rain and water logging on tracks.
Besides, many express and passenger trains are running late and have been cancelled due to heavy to very heavy, waterlogging and track circuit failure at Vizianagaram yard since yesterday night.
There will be a requirement to cancel/reschedule a few trains. Some short distance trains may get cancelled, the EcoR said in a release.
At Vizianagram, water from city municipal drains and nearby areas entered the station yards and tracks got submerged today. Signaling posts also got affected at many stations due to heavy water flow on yesterday night. However normalcy returned after the water receded on the tracks.
