Heatwave Conditions to Intensify in Odisha from April 12, IMD Warns

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to experience severe heat and sultry weather conditions between April 12 and 14, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast.

According to the weather office, the influence of Kalabaisakhi (nor’wester) is expected to gradually weaken from today, paving the way for intense heat and humidity to dominate across the state starting April 12.

While daytime temperatures are likely to remain stable over the next couple of days, a sharp increase of 4 to 6 degrees Celsius is expected thereafter, leading to uncomfortable weather conditions.

In Bhubaneswar and nearby areas, skies are expected to remain partly cloudy today, with chances of light rain. Meanwhile, several parts of the state may witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph.

The IMD has advised residents to take necessary precautions during the upcoming hot and humid spell. Outdoor workers, elderly individuals, and children have been specifically urged to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and ensure adequate hydration.
