Health Department reviews cholera situation with Central team

Bhubaneswar: The Principal Secretary of the Odisha Health Department is currently reviewing the cholera situation in the state in a meeting with the central team at Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. Prior to the meeting, the central team conducted a ground assessment of the situation.

Following a diarrhea outbreak in five districts, the Health Department has alerted all the 30 districts. Based on the collected reports, discussions are underway between the central team and senior officials of the Health Department.

The situation remains concerning, with diarrhea spreading to multiple districts, including Balasore, where several people in the Soro area have been hospitalized.

Meanwhile, the death toll in Jajpur has increased, with a woman dying of diarrhea at Jajpur Road hospital, bringing the official death toll to 7.

Cholera has spread to 8 districts, prompting the state government to alert 30 districts. To closely monitor the situation, daily state-level reviews will be conducted.
